We have an extremely innovative and exciting opportunity for a postdoctoral fellow at UCSF in San Francisco.   The applicant will be involved in research related to validating novel online assessments in older adults using the BrainHealthRegistry.org.  The Brain Health Registry is an online registry for recruitment, assessment and longitudinal monitoring of cognitive aging with over 68,000 participants.

Our goals are to validate these online data collection methods and determine their ability to predict important outcomes related to brain aging and Alzheimer’s disease, including APOE  genotype, brain amyloid levels, and cognitive decline.  Overall this project involves clinical neuroscience research, with an emphasis on Alzheimer's disease, cognitive aging, and cognitive decline.

An area of particular interest to us is health disparities.   We encourage applications from those interested in conducting research and implementing initiatives to improve recruitment, retention, and engagement of traditionally underserved and underrepresented groups (racial and ethnic minorities, those with low socioeconomic status) in clinical aging and dementia research.

There are many other projects the candidate may also be involved in, including development of partnerships with those conducting Alzheimer's clinical trials, analysis of Brain Health Registry data, collection and analysis of biomarker data, and implementation of new content and improvements in the Brain Health Registry.

The Principal Investigator of the project is Michael W. Weiner, MD, Professor of Radiology, who is also the Principal Investigator of the Alzheimer’s Disease Neuroimaging Initiative (ADNI).    The applicant will work closely with Dr. Scott Mackin, Professor of Psychiatry, and Dr. Rachel Nosheny, Assistant Professor of Psychiatry, who are co-Investigators.

Job Responsibilities:

•    Quantitative analysis of data including in-clinic and online self- and study partner-report questionnaires, neuropsychological tests, imaging and biomarker data from a longitudinal, observational study

  • Work with Principal Investigator and Co-investigators to generate hypotheses, plan analyses, and interpret data.
  • Develop innovative ways to use the Internet for assessment of cognitive aging.

•    Seek out new funding opportunities and helping to write grants and proposals

•    Write manuscripts and abstracts
