PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES:
- Oversee, implement and maintain organization wide pharmacy devices and ancillary systems. Ensure all devices are up to date on current software, firmware, and drivers. Support Omnicell, Talyst, Infusion pumps (Alaris, CADD Solis, others), MILT medi-dose, Intermec printers. Validate the current medication databases align with our formulary and are clinically appropriate for specific populations.
- Troubleshoot issues as they relate to devices and ancillary systems. Identify any gaps with workflows as they relate to devices and ancillary systems. Address all dispensing issues with devices and resolve within a timely manner. Verify medication modifications to Talyst.
- Work to establish downtime specific procedures for staff and document build in accordance with team standards. Abide by change control processes set forth by Seattle Children’s IT and Pharmacy departments.
- Perform training to super users as necessary. Help develop and maintain curriculum as it pertains to pharmacy systems and devices.
- Provide input into, and assist in the development of, new strategic goals as they relate to devices and systems.
- Complete oversight of devices at all pharmacies throughout organization. Build out products in ancillary devices as needed (Mapping, aliases, etc). Regularly run audits on systems and address any discrepancies. Work with Epic Willow analysts for integrated work. Collaborate with Clinical Information System and other IT teams as necessary.
- Plan and implement device additions or removals as facility structure changes. Regularly meet with facility planning committees to address any device needs or concerns.
Job Requirements:
QUALIFICATIONS
- Minimum Education and Experience:
- Required Education/Experience:
- Graduation from an accredited School of Pharmacy
- Epic certified in modules supported or receive certification within 6 months from employment
- Experience with interpretation of regulations and implementation, monitoring of systems to meet regulatory requirement such as TJC, etc.
- Experience training others.
- Previous experience with devices and vendors for example: Omnicell, CareFusion, Pyxis, Talyst, Zebra, Intermec, and others.
- Required Credentials:
- Licensed by the Washington State Board of Pharmacy as a Pharmacist
- Preferred:
- Strong Information Technology skills.
- Strong project management ideologies and experience leading small to medium projects, end to end.
- Strong Epic Willow build and/or use experience
- Other EMR experience (Cerner, Meditech, other).
- Network infrastructure and design (IP assignment, host name resolution, etc)
- Interface HL7 experience
- Pediatrics experience
- At least two years of experience in a hospital pharmacy with demonstration of increasing responsibility, leadership and thorough understanding of pharmacy and hospital operations and organization.
- Previous experience with pharmacy software configuration, testing, and implementation.

- Microsoft Excel and Access power user

- Physical Demands:
- LIGHT - Light work involves walking/standing to a significant degree, or sitting most of the time while performing push/pull of arm or foot controls. Exerting up to 20 lbs. of force occasionally or 10 lbs. frequently for lifting/carrying/pushing/pulling.
