It is expected that the Investment Professional will undertake the following responsibilities across a broad range of investment transactions and stages:

  • Conduct scientific, strategic, financial, and operational diligence for therapeutics and computational biology-focused investments.
  • Source therapeutic and pharmaceutical investments inclusive of those that intersect with related disciplines such as microbiology, gene/cell therapies, AI/ML drug discovery, etc.).
  • Build and maintain relationships for the firm with the broader clinical, academic and biotechnology community.
  • Perform market/disease area and competitive research for therapeutics companies.
  • Generate disease area presentations for both internal and external use.
  • Assist in supporting relevant LYFE Capital portfolio companies in clinical and pre-clinical strategy and hiring.
  • Lead activities in support of the LYFE Capital portfolio, the firm and the broader LYFE Capital network of entrepreneurs and advisers.
  • Facilitate clear and consistent communications with internal and external constituents.

 

Specific areas in which the successful candidate will lead activities include:

 

  • Source potential new investments through active outreach to and relationship-building with the entrepreneurial community, strategic partners, intermediaries and academia.
  • Lead scientific, clinical, and corporate due diligence in preparation for Strategic Advisory Board (SAB) meetings; work collaboratively with entrepreneurs and startups to craft pitch books / business plans and final presentation materials in preparation for SAB meetings.
  • Sourcing of new investments including meeting with founders, entrepreneurs, potential co-investors, attending conferences, networking events and evaluating new prospects. This includes adding to the fund’s pipeline of potential investment opportunities by networking within the LYFE Capital Network including Biotechnology/Life Science companies, strategic alliances, and syndicate relationships. 
  • Evaluating new and adjacent markets and turning insights into investment recommendations. 
  • Overseeing from an executive level the internal assessment teams in the evaluation of new markets/capabilities.  
  • Formulating current views on markets, sectors, and technologies of portfolio companies through on-going research and Board observation and enhancing LYFE Capital in market.
Job Requirements: 

Candidates must possess an advanced degree; a PhD or an MD is preferred.

The ideal candidate will evidence the following professional competencies and personal characteristics:

  • Possess at least five years professional experience in a role demonstrating expertise in preclinical/clinical research, analytical rigor, and creativity. Examples include:
  • Investment and/or Research roles at life science-focused management consulting firms, hedge funds or venture capital funds.
  • Translational, clinical research or technical BD roles at a pharmaceutical company.
  • Translational, clinical research or technical BD roles at a startup/biotechnology
  • Deep familiarity and curiosity with the pharmaceutical and biotech industry.
  • Focus on advancement and commitment to growth with demonstrated ability to assess drug candidate preclinical results and clinical development plans.
  • Embody the LYFE Capital culture of collaboration and trust - believe that with great science we can make a difference in people’s lives globally. Demonstrate intellectual curiosity across a wide spectrum of technologies and industries.
  • Scientific achievement in life sciences, with a passion for helping address unmet medical needs. Experience spanning informatics and wet-lab work is ideal.

  • Demonstrated ability to build relationships that earn the respect and trust of others and credibility in working with senior leadership teams.
