The Department of Pathology at UCSF aims to achieve the highest standards in patient care, research and education. The Department provides diagnostic pathology services in a wide variety of subspecialties with highly trained subspecialists who are recognized nationally and internationally for their expertise. The Department’s research programs are diverse and interface with a wealth of basic and translational research programs that are a hallmark of UCSF. Our educational programs include a research-intensive academic residency program and fellowships in cytopathology, dermatopathology, gastrointestinal and liver pathology, gynecologic pathology, neuropathology and surgical pathology.

The Ohgami Lab in the UCSF Department of Pathology seeks a dynamic and team-oriented postdoctoral fellow who is interested in a productive fellowship. We are a collaborative lab that studies rare and common heme malignancies using next generation sequencing, deep immunophenotyping assays, and computational digital pathology approaches (AI, machine learning). This position would be excellent for any postdoctoral fellow who enjoys working with others, seeks mentorship, enjoys pursuing many/most of their own ideas, is willing to learn new technologies and techniques, wants to publish several (>5) primary research papers each year, and enjoys pursuing extramural funding which will fuel their growth to an independent PI.

What genetic mutations drive leukemias and lymphomas? And how do these mutations relate to the phenotypic manifestations of these diseases? What role does the immune system play in leukemias and lymphomas? Can we come up with better classifiers of disease? These are just a few questions that the Ohgami Lab at UCSF tackles. We are a highly collaborative research group that is dedicated to understanding human disease and translating research into clinical care.
