The Jones Lab at Weill Cornell Medicine in New York City is seeking a Staff Scientist with a background in T-cell immunology, vaccines/immunotherapy, and/or HIV persistence to lead projects investigating both: i) Novel mechanisms by which cells that harbor HIV reservoirs (in ARV-treated donors) resist elimination by cytotoxic T-cells and NK cells, and ii) Mechanistic underpinnings of durable CD8+ T-cell mediated control of viral replication observed in both pre-clinical and clinical studies, in particular following treatment with broadly neutralizing antibodies.

These projects are funded by multiple NIH grants, including a Martin Delaney collaboratory co-led by Dr. Jones, and will be conducted in close collaboration with Marina Caskey (Rockefeller University), Morgan Huse (Memorial Sloan Kettering), and Darrell Irvine (MIT). They will integrate advanced tissue culture techniques and multi-omics approaches (supported by a bioinformatics team), along with unique and valuable samples/cohorts with the dual aims of both advancing therapeutics approaches to cure HIV, and of generating fundamental immunological insights.

Job Requirements: 

• Ph.D. with a background in immunology, HIV persistence, or immunoengineering.

• Evidence of productivity from publications in high-quality journals originating from Ph.D. or postdoctoral work. Manuscripts that are accepted for publication in high-quality journals will also be considered as evidence of productivity.

• Significant expertise in other cell culture and techniques, and the manipulation of T- or NK-cells

• Capable of working independently with appropriate supervision on assigned projects as well as in a team.

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English with good organizational and analytical abilities.

• Excellent organizational skills, self-motivation, and creativity.
