The UCSF Division of Experimental Medicine based at Zuckerberg San Francisco General (ZSFG) is seeking a highly motivated Staff Research Associate I (SRA I) to work as part of a collaborative team studying the human immune response to Tuberculosis and HIV. Our work uses cutting edge technologies to answer clinically important questions about host-pathogen interactions across two globally devastating infectious diseases. Candidates can demonstrate or develop the ability to work independently and as part of a team. Department Description

The mission of the Division of Experimental Medicine, based at the San Francisco General Hospital (SFGH) Medical Center, is to understand the human immune system so that lifesaving therapies and vaccines can be developed to protect against chronic infectious diseases of global importance, such as HIV/AIDS; and to establish a training environment that fosters patient-oriented research, both here and abroad.

Job Requirements: 

Required Qualifications

•    BA/BS degree in a related science and knowledge of, or experience with, the basic techniques or methods required by the position; or an equivalent combination of education and experience •    Basic biology research background with a focus on immunology and infectious disease •    Knowledge of various procedures and laboratory techniques, such as: fluorescence imaging, quantitative image analysis, flow or mass cytometry. •    Ability to adapt and use good judgment when making decisions •    Ability to work with staff of wide range of educational backgrounds •    Ability to prioritize work and delegate responsibility and tasks appropriately Note: Physical/health screening required.

Preferred Qualifications

•    Master’s degree in a related science and experience with the basic techniques or methods required by the position •    Prior summer research experience or part-time volunteer viral research experience with viral or mycobacterial infections.
