Key duties:

Leadership and Staff Development (40%)

  • Supervise all nursing (RN, LVN) and On-Call MA personnel at all sites, including but not limited to recruitment, hiring, orientation, training, retention, performance improvement coaching, and performance evaluation. 
  • Clinically supervise Nurse Managers / Charge Nurses and oversee them in the clinical training, supervision, and performance evaluation of Medical Assistants.
  • Establish and implement a clinical Professional Development program for Nurses and MAs to promote continuous learning, safe and high-quality practice, and advancement within the defined scope of work.
  • Coordinate and monitor in-service training and continuing education requirements for all Nursing personnel. 
  • Act as primary liaison to Nursing and MA training programs, and coordinate placement, orientation, and scheduling of all RN/LVN and MA students, in accordance with MNHC policies & procedures.

Nursing Administration (40%)

  • Establish clinical standards for nursing, and maintain accountability and responsibility for nursing services. 
  • Develop, implement, and maintain the Nurse and MA Training Manuals.
  • Maintain and update Nurse and MA policies, procedures, and protocols, in alignment with regulations. 
  • Oversee maintenance, inventory, storage, and ordering of emergency medical equipment and supplies at all sites.
  • Advise Executive and Senior Leadership Team in matters related to Nursing services.
  • Participate in the planning, implementation, and evaluation of clinical programs and services ensuring appropriate resources for the delivery of nursing care.
  • Provide a minimum of 8 hours of direct patient care every month.

Quality Improvement & Compliance (10%)

  • Develop nursing Peer Review standards and workflows, and ensure timely completion of all nursing Peer Review.
  • Promote and oversee quality improvement initiatives to improve clinical outcomes and enhance team-based care.
  • Assist the Director of Clinical Operations and Quality Improvement on meeting PCMH requirements.
  • Assist in the oversight of clinical Incident Reports, and coordinate timely follow-up on corrective action plans.
  • Supervise the development, preparation, and validation of nursing-related clinical indicators, metrics, and reports.
  • Develop advanced knowledge of EHR and population health registry functionality, and routinely use these tools to lead efforts to track, measure and publicize population based clinical and nurse productivity.

Infection Control (10%)

  • Maintain the Infection Control (IC) Manual, and ensure timely review in alignment with government regulations.
  • Ensure education and training of clinical staff on IC best practices, and ensure IC measures are followed.
  • Chair the Infection Control Committee, in collaboration with the Medical Director.
Job Requirements: 
  • Bilingual (Spanish/English)
  • Bachelor’s degree of Nursing from an accredited School of Nursing required. Master’s degree in Nursing preferred.
  • Current California licensure as Registered Nurse required.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience as RN required.
  • Experience in primary care, ambulatory care, and/or at a community health center preferred.
  • Minimum of 2-3 years of increasingly responsible management and supervisory experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of and experience with quality improvement methodologies required.
  • Familiarity with Title XXII California Code of Regulations.
