The Million Veteran Program (MVP) is a national, voluntary research program funded entirely by the Department of Veterans Affairs Office of Research & Development. The goal of MVP is to partner with Veterans receiving their care in the VA Healthcare System to study how genes affect health. To do this, MVP will build one of the world's largest medical databases by safely collecting blood samples and health information from one million Veteran volunteers. The Research Volunteer will assist the research staff with duties related to the study including recruiting Veterans, obtaining informed consent, ensuring blood is collected per protocol, making recruitment phone calls, attending special Veteran-centric events, and serving as the point of contact for participant questions and inquiries.
The location of this position is at the San Francisco VA Medical Center, 4150 Clement Street, San Francisco, CA 94121. The time commitment is at least 10hours a week for a minimum of one year. The Research Volunteer can choose his or her desired work hours between 7:30 AM and 4:30 PM Monday through Friday. This is a good experience for students interested in research, patient contact, and/or pursuing graduate or professional school.
