The Million Veteran Program (MVP) is seeking research volunteers. MVP is a national research program funded by the Department of Veterans Affairs Office of Research and Development. The purpose of MVP is to understand the inter-relation of genetic characteristics, behaviors and environmental factors, and Veteran health. To do this, MVP will be collecting genetic, health, lifestyle, and military experience information from one million Veterans. Job Requirements: 

 The research volunteer would be responsible for:

·        Explaining MVP to potential study participants

·        Distributing public relations materials

·        Obtaining informed consent

·        Ensuring the collection of blood specimens occurs per protocol

·        Entering data

·        Calling Veterans for appointment reminders, no-show follow ups, and recruitment

·        Performing general office tasks related to this project

 

The location of this position is at the San Francisco VA Medical Center, 4150 Clement Street, San Francisco, CA 94121. The time commitment is a minimum of ten hours a week for a minimum of one year. The volunteer must be available to work one shift on Tuesdays. The volunteer can choose his or her other work hours between 7:30 AM and 4:00 PM Monday through Friday. No evening or weekend hours will be allowed. This is not a paid position, but would be good experience for students interested in research, patient contact, and/or pursuing graduate or professional school.
