Research Associate / Sr. Research Associate, in vivo

Xyphos Biosciences is announcing a Research Associate I/II or Senior Research Associate in vivo, opportunity at our location in South San Francisco, CA. Xyphos Biosciences, an Astellas Research Division, is a biotech company located in South San Francisco focused on the discovery of next-generation antibody guided immunological cellular therapies for the treatment of cancer. The Position:

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Research Associate to join our Xyphos Research Team, supporting in vivo pharmacology research activities. In this role, you will have the opportunity to be a part of a dynamic research team, performing small animal research studies, analyzing data, and drafting reports. Depending on skill level, you will work independently and primarily in a laboratory setting, dedicated to the advancement of our CAR adoptive cell therapy programs for the treatment of cancer.

Essential Job Responsibilities:

  • Utilizes broad scientific expertise in the area of animal pharmacology to initiate and effectively execute in vivo animal studies.

  • Performs IV, IP and SQ injections along with scheduled monitoring of tumor growth and animals' health including weight

  • Establish and maintain new animal cancer models.

  • Collects and processes rodent blood and tissue samples

  • Routinely feeds, passages, expands and freezes multiple adherent and suspension cell lines for in vivo studies

  • Maintains accurate record keeping in laboratory notebooks and appropriate databases in a timely manner.

  • Writes technical reports detailing procedures, outcomes, and observations.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • Demonstrated ability to perform dosing (IV, IP, and SQ injections), blood draw, monitoring, scoring, necropsy and specimen collection

  • Demonstrated knowledge of lab animal science guidelines, laws and welfare laws.

  • Strong team orientation; highly collaborative; solutions and results-oriented focus

  • Strong scientific curiosity and initiative; hands-on and resourceful

  • Self-driven and enthusiastic with the ability to thrive in a dynamic environment

  • Ability to analyze data and write concise reports

  • Candidates will have 1-5 years of relevant, hands-on research experience preferably in an industry setting, typically as follows:

  • Research Associate I/II: BS with 1-2 years; MS with 2+ years relevant laboratory exp.

  • Research Associate: BS with 5+ years; MS with 2+ years relevant laboratory exp.

  • Principal RA: Job leveling will be based on experience, qualifications and research experience in an industry setting.

Preferred:

  • Familiarity with one or more of the following techniques: IVIS in vivo imaging system, Multicolor flow cytometry techniques or ELISA would be a plus.

  • Industry work or internship experience, especially in CAR-T cell or immuno-oncology field

  • Experienced in aseptic tissue culture
