Along with our partners at the San Francisco VA Medical Center, we are working to discover and develop effective, safe, and practical treatments for military injuries and diseases affecting Veterans. Through new technologies, novel scientific insights, and international clinical collaborations, we strive to set up a new standard of health care research for Veterans and military personnel.

 

We are seeking a Research Assistant I who will serve as the Study Coordinator for an investigational drug for patients with a recent ischemic stroke. Under the supervision of the Principal Investigator, the RA I will perform daily tasks related to conducting a clinical trial. This is a per diem, on-site, contingent upon funding, position with potential for some remote hours.

 

Essential Functions:

  • Assist with recruitment, screening, coordinating visits, monitor, and document the general well-being of research subjects during their study participation.
  • Administer health and research questionnaires.
  • Collect and enter data and maintain an accurate database.
  • Maintain detailed record of investigational product, laboratory supplies, order supplies as needed, and maintain an organized and functional laboratory environment.
  • Assist in preparing and maintaining research regulatory protocol and preparation of standard operating procedures; maintain accurate study protocol; maintain accurate subject records including consents and study participation.
  • Manage subject payment
  • Additional administrative tasks/other duties as assigned
  • Participate in monthly research meetings
  • Coordinate research project activities ensuring objectives are met and documented in status reports.
  • Experience with Electronic Data Capture/Electronic Medical Records/Interactive Web Response System/Interactive Voice Response System systems
  • Familiar with regulatory submission/process
  • Interact with NCIRE’s Office of Sponsored Research, SFVAHCS Research and Development Office and related subcommittees.

 

Job Requirements:

  • BA/BS in life sciences
  • At least 1 year experience in research coordination and/or study management or a willingness to learn
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, tasks and priorities to achieve desired goals
  • Strong organizational and oral and written communication skills
  • Computer literacy with full working knowledge of MS Word, Excel, Endnote, Adobe
  • Ability to work independently
  • Strong people skills and reliability
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities to achieve desired goals
  • Ability to exercise tact and discretion in handling a variety of confidential material
  • Attention to detail
  • Phlebotomy and knowledge of specimen handling/processing/shipping (preferred but not required)

 

The hourly range for this position is $20.86 - $28.71.
