SPECIFIC DUTIES: • Provide leadership in the development and implementation of CMC’s oral health screening and sealant project. • Complete grant reporting requirements as needed to implement project • Transport and set up mobile equipment in a school setting • Travel to schools and other selected oral health screening sites • Conduct assessment of oral health conditions • Identify and write up dental referrals • Review of the health history • Conduct assessments for oral cancer screening • Enter dental procedure information into Electronic Health Records system • Remove calculus and plaque (hard and soft deposits) from all surfaces of the teeth • Apply preventive materials to the teeth (e.g., sealants and fluorides) • Instruct patients of appropriate oral hygiene strategies to maintain oral health;(e.g., tooth brushing, flossing and nutritional counseling) • Counsel patients about good nutrition and its impact on oral hygiene • Making impressions of patients' teeth for study casts (models of teeth used by dentists to evaluate patient treatment needs) • As needed take blood pressure and pulse • As needed take dental x-rays • Perform other tasks as needed PERFORMANCE STANDARDS Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: • Knowledge of current dental hygienist practices and procedures • Knowledge of organization policies, procedures, stems, and objectives • Skill in exercising initiative, judgment, problem-solving, decision-making • Skill in developing and maintaining effective relationships with medical, dental, administrative staff, patients and public TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Requires prolonged sitting, some bending, stooping and stretching. Requires eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity sufficient to operate dental equipment, and other office equipment. Vision must be correctable to 20/40 and hearing must be in the normal range for telephone contacts. Requires working under stress in emergency situations or during irregular hours. TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS: Frequent exposure to communicable diseases, toxic substance¬es, medicinal preparations and other conditions common to a dental clinic environment.

• Licensed as a Dental Hygienist in the State of California • Alternative Practice Certificate is preferred • Knowledge and skills in delivering dental care to patients • Valid California driver's license, proof of auto insurance, and personal transportation
