We are seeking a highly motivated and innovative Lead Discovery Scientist to join our Discovery team. In this role, you will play a key part in leading the design and implementation of in vitro biochemical and biophysical assays for our expanding portfolio targets. You will provide a broad scientific and technical expertise in assay development, high throughput screening, lead identification assays and data analysis. You will work as part of a multi-disciplinary project team in executing drug discovery projects from target validation and screening through candidate identification.

 

Key responsibilities include:

  • Together with the key stakeholders, design, develop and execute diverse biochemical and biophysical assays for small molecule discovery
  • Implement small molecule discovery campaigns using cutting edge screening technologies to identify small molecules that modulate protein-protein interactions (HTS, DEL, AS-MS, etc.)
  • Develop and execute of biochemical and biophysical assays for measuring protein-protein, protein-ligand interactions, or enzymatic activity (TR-FRET, FP, SPR, DSF, ITC, etc.)
  • Technical and scientific leader in identifying and enabling state-of-the art technologies and robust workflows to accelerate lead identification
  • Investigate mechanism(s)-of -action, protein-protein or small molecule-protein complex characterization using biophysical and structural approaches
  • Cross-functional project team collaboration, including providing structure-activity relationship for small molecules in on-going compound optimization
  • Presentation of research findings to senior management and other stakeholders within and outside the company

The expected salary range for this position is $145,000 - $185,000.  Actual pay will be determined based on experience, qualifications, and other job-related factors

Job Requirements: 

Qualifications

  • Ph.D. in Biochemistry, Biophysics, or related field with 5+ years of post-degree experience in small molecule drug discovery program(s)
  • A deep understanding of protein-protein and small molecule-protein interaction assay design, development and troubleshooting
  • Expertise in biochemical and biophysical assay development (e.g., FP, TR-FRET, DSF, SPR, ITC, etc.)
  • Experience in small molecule hit discovery campaigns (e.g., HTS, DEL, AS-MS, etc.)
  • Experience in assay automation including nanoliter dispensing, liquid handlers, and high throughput platforms
  • Expertise in general biochemical and molecular biology techniques, including protein expression & purification and structural biology is preferred
  • Commitment to the highest quality work with a strong track record of scientific accomplishment (publications, presentations, industry experience)
