Successful candidates will work directly with Dr. Lennart Mucke and become part of a collaborative group of dedicated scientists focusing on processes that cause cognitive disorders ranging from dementias to epileptic encephalopathies and autism spectrum disorders. We use rodent and tissue culture models to investigate disease mechanisms and address related fundamental neuroscientific questions at the molecular, cellular, network and behavioral level. Experimental models are also used to develop and evaluate novel therapeutic strategies. The clinical relevance and translational potential of these strategies are assessed through collaborations with leading clinical programs and industrial partners.
