The Aparna Sundaram Lab (https://sundaramlab.ucsf.edu/) at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF) is seeking a talented and highly motivated postdoctoral scholar to join our team. Our research focuses on force transmission pathways leveraged by smooth muscle cells to deform the airways, with a particular emphasis on impact in chronic inflammatory diseases of the airways such as asthma and COPD. This position offers an exciting opportunity to explore the role of cadherins in force transmission in chronic airways diseases, with the goal of advancing new treatments for asthma.
Located on UCSF's Parnassus campus, the Sundaram Lab provides access to cutting-edge facilities and a collaborative scientific environment. The postdoctoral scholar will employ state-of-the-art techniques, including advanced imaging and animal and cell culture models to uncover novel insights into disease mechanisms. Our group is involved in exciting collaborations to develop novel small molecule inhibitors to target identified pathways. - PhD (awarded within the last three years) or equivalent degree in molecular or cellular biology, or a related field of biomedical research.
- Expertise in molecular and cell biology techniques, tissue culture, screening assay development and execution, and mouse models of asthma is highly desirable.
- A strong record of academic achievements and research productivity.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, strong work ethic, able to work independently and collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams.
