The Saba lab at UCSF is hiring a post-doctoral research fellow. Our lab investigates the role of bioactive sphingolipids in physiology and disease. The project at hand is focused on elucidating the interactions between sphingolipid signaling and kidney glomerular function. We utilize molecular biology, mutant mouse models of sphingolipid metabolism, cellular and mouse models of glomerular injury, and clinical samples from patients with sphingolipid disorders or kidney disease to explore this relationship.

The researcher employed in this position will work closely with Dr. Saba and members of her lab and collaborate closely with other researchers in the areas of nephropathology, mouse genome editing, and rodent microsurgery. A successful applicant should be able to demonstrate independent thinking and initiative in designing and conducting experiments and will have expertise in kidney physiology, pathology and mouse models of kidney disease. Applicants must have a Ph.D. or equivalent graduate degree with concordant evidence of research productivity. Experience in mammalian cell culture and molecular biology is required, and previous work with murine models will be highly valued.

The Saba lab is committed to UCSF’s PRIDE values (https://diversity.ucsf.edu/PRIDE-values) and strongly encourages applicants from diverse and under-represented backgrounds.
