We are seeking a highly motivated Postdoctoral Fellow to join our interdisciplinary team developing cutting-edge preclinical and clinical technologies to quantify and therapeutically modulate synaptic stability and plasticity in the brain. This position offers a unique opportunity to bridge basic neuroscience with translational applications, leveraging advanced tools in transcranial focused ultrasound, neuroimaging, and biopharmaceuticals to drive innovation in brain disorder therapeutics.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and execute experiments to investigate synaptic plasticity, stability, and dysfunction in preclinical and/or clinical models.
  • Develop and optimize transcranialfocused ultrasoundneuroimaging (MRI/immuno-PET), and immunohistochemistry  for image-guided modulation of synaptic plasticity in targeted neural circuits.
  • Data analysis (with Python, MATLAB, or similar) to analyze neuroimaging datasets.
  • Collaborate with clinicians, engineers, and computational neuroscientists to translate findings into novel therapeutic strategies.
  • Publish high-impact research and present findings at international conferences.

Why Join Us?

  • Work with a highly interdisciplinary team with a scholarly, collaborative, and rigorous lab culture with access to state-of-the-art facilities.
  • Live in a vibrant city (SF) with beautiful nature and weather.
  • Contribute to high-impact research with very exceptionally strong potential for clinical translation.
  • Help advance  neural circuit therapeutics that could lead to the first disease-modifying treatments for psychiatric illness like autism, schizophrenia, obsessive-compulsive disorder, and addiction.
  • Strong emphasis on career development, grant writing, and mentorship.
  • Competitive salary and benefits package.
Job Requirements

Qualifications:

  • PhD, MD, or MD/PhD in Neuroscience, Biomedical Engineering, or a related field
  • Desires training to establish independence and lead research projects in academia or industry.
  • Strong background in synaptic plasticity, neuroimaging, electrophysiology, or molecular neuroscience.
  • Experience with quantitative data analysis (Python, MATLAB, R, or similar) is highly desirable.
  • Interest in working with rodent models, in-human studies, or both
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
