The laboratory of Dr. Mallar Bhattacharya, located at the UCSF Parnassus Heights campus, seeks an exceptional post-doctoral fellow who will independently plan, develop, and execute research projects. Research in the Bhattacharya Laboratory is focused on immune-stromal interactions in lung injury and fibrosis: How do innate immune cells regulate fibroblasts after injury or infection? Single cell genomics, tissue slice imaging, and functional lung injury experiments are used, as well as analysis of primary human lung cells. Ongoing projects:

1)        Paracrine regulation of fibroblast calcium oscillations by macrophages

2)        Immune surveillance of cellular senescence

Job Requirements: 

Required qualifications:

•          PhD degree in immunology or a related field, with direct experience with immune profiling and functional assays including flow cytometry/FACS

•          Experience in mouse genetic models

•          Proficiency in cell culture techniques

•          Willingness to develop a working knowledge of single-cell genomics analysis

•          Knowledge of and experience with basic molecular biology techniques

•          Experience in lab maintenance

Preferred qualifications:

•          Experience with confocal or multiphoton microscopy

•          Experience in lung models
