The REPAIR Project https://repair.ucsf.edu/homebegan in the fall of 2020 as a faculty/student/staff initiative to work toward Reparations and Anti-Institutional Racism in health and healthcare. It mapped three strategic yearly themes: Medical Reparations, Medical Abolition, Decolonizing the Health Sciences. REPAIR activities work across the campus and community in formal and interstitial spaces in education, clinical care, and research. REPAIR seeks to cultivate opportunities to undo the harm of institutional racism and build new institutional relationships and conceptual platforms for health that reject that harm. ODO https://diversity.ucsf.edu/ is promoting two initiatives that partner with REPAIR efforts. Specifically, the Black Health Initiative (BHI) focusing on Black health in partnership with community stakeholders, with visible leadership of UCSF Black faculty and staff and the Institute for Diversity, Equity and Anti-Racism Leadership (IDEAL), which aims to further the goals of critical race pedagogy and inclusion throughout UCSF).

Job Requirements:

Applicants with a PhD or equivalent in History, Medical Anthropology, Education, Public Health, Sociology, Ethnic Studies, Social Work, Nursing and related fields are encouraged to apply. Applicants with expertise in Critical Race Theory and Pedagogy will be prioritized. Fellows will hold responsibilities for leadership in REPAIR activities and will help build long-term institutional growth for Anti-Racism work through DHSS and the Office of Diversity Outreach and the Institutional organizations that it is promoting (IDEAL and the Institute for Racial Justice). Specifically, fellows will serve on the steering committee, and take leadership in at least two REPAIR working groups, engage in development activities, liaison with other Anti-Racism initiatives promoted by ODO. Given that one of the goals of the Anti-Racism Initiative is to address the anti-racism knowledge gaps at UCSF, fellows will engage in activities that help codify and elevate REPAIR activities, particularly those with pedagogical impact, to broaden their reach to UCSF and beyond.
