The Biophotonics’ Laboratory of Dr. Daniel Fried within the Department of Preventive and Restorative Dental Sciences has an opening for a full-time Postdoctoral Fellow. The research team is involved in laser-hard tissue interactions and optical diagnostics and imaging. The fellow will conduct standard laboratory experiments involving laser irradiation, optical imaging, optical property measurements, spectroscopy, image analysis, and microradiography. The fellow will also be responsible for the preparation and sectioning of teeth, meticulous recording, analyzing, summarizing, graphing and tabulating of experimental data. The fellow will also assist graduate students, clinical residents and visiting scholars with their experiments. A PhD degree with a major in engineering, chemistry, or physics is required. The fellow should have strong programming skills in MATLAB and LabVIEW.
The fellow must be a recent graduate of an accredited doctoral program with a PhD degree in engineering, chemistry, or physics. The fellow must have a strong background and prior experience working with spectroscopy and/or imaging. The fellow must have strong written and verbal communication skills in English and hold the interpersonal skills required to assist graduate students, clinical residents and visiting scholars with their experiments.
The annual stipend is competitive with NIH fellowships.
