A full-time postdoctoral scholar position is available for a highly motivated scientist interested in clinical pharmacology research in HIV cure, HIV, COVID-19, long-COVID or Post Acute Sequalae of COVID-19 (PASC). As a member of a highly collaborative, cross disciplinary team of clinicians, virologists, immunologists, pharmacologists, pharmacists, epidemiologists, and statisticians, the postdoctoral researcher will have the opportunity to lead clinical studies and will work closely with the UCSF Drug Research Unit (DRU) co-Director Dr. Amelia Deitchman and her team. Projects will generate new approaches in design and analysis of clinical trial data to inform drug development and dosing and underlying disease pathogenesis towards HIV cure and treatment of other viral, immune or inflammatory conditions. The postdoctoral scholar will have opportunities to publish the work in professional journals and/or present data at professional meetings. They will also be encouraged to take advantage of other training and learning opportunities within the Department of Clinical Pharmacy, the School of Pharmacy, and Center for AIDS Research at UCSF. The initial appointment is 1 year with renewal for an additional 1 year by mutual agreement.

Job Requirements: 

Applicants should have:

  • A Ph.D. in pharmaceutical sciences, pharmaceutics, pharmacology, pharmacometrics, clinical virology or immunology, clinical epidemiology, or related field.
  • Possess strong communication skills and a desire to engage in research in a diverse team of clinicians and scientists.
  • Knowledge of statistical software packages such as R or other statistical softwares and programming languages
  • Experience in basic statistical analysis approaches relevant to clinical or translational studies.
  • Prior experience in pharmacometrics (population pharmacokinetic, PK/PD, systems pharmacology modeling) or modeling viral or immune kinetics is a plus.
