The Shain and Bastian laboratories (https://shainlab.ucsf.edu/welcome-shain-laboratory and https://bastian.ucsf.edu/) are seeking to fill an open position for a postdoctoral scholar. Our laboratories uses a variety of -omic technologies to better understand the biology of skin cancer. For this position, the postdoctoral scholar will utilize multi-omic approaches to explore whether the mutation burden of skin cells can predict the future occurrence of melanoma. Examples of the type of sequencing technologies are illustrated in recent publications from the lab, shown below.

There will also be opportunities for the postdoctoral scholar to build independent projects. The position is fully funded by a recent grant to carry out this work.

Job Requirements: 

The candidate MUST be interested and enthusiastic about the proposed work and the overarching work in our laboratories. Familiarity with the analysis of high-throughput datasets, including programming experience is desired. Previous experience in the field of genetics, cancer biology, single-cell biology, and/or bioinformatics is also desired.
