Postdoc Positions at UCSF
Population:
Life Sciences

The Halkias lab at UCSF studies the mechanisms that direct early human immune development and aims to understand how perturbations during this critical window alter the immune trajectory later in life. We seek a highly motivated PhD or MD/PhD with a background in Immunology to study mechanisms of immune activation and dysregulation associated with preterm birth. The initial appointment is for one year, full-time with the possibility of renewal based on performance and the continuation of funding.

The postdoc will embed in the UCSF ImmunoX CoLabs and lead a funded Co-Project to interrogate the nature of early life host-microbe encounters in the setting of perinatal inflammatory pathologies. The successful candidate will have broad experience with immunological methods and transcriptional data analysis. This project involves immune cell and microbial sequencing of clinical samples, and functional studies related to the generation and regulation of antigen-specific immune responses. The applicant will play a major role in drafting manuscripts, presenting results at professional meetings, and the preparation and initiation of funding applications. We are a new lab and seek candidates who will foster a creative, inclusive, and collaborative environment. Members of underrepresented minority groups and women are strongly encouraged to apply.
