Are you driven by curiosity and passionate about unlocking the secrets of sleep and its role in neurodegenerative diseases? Ready to delve into the world of big data, artificial intelligence, and cutting-edge sleep technology? If yes, MoonLAIT is looking for someone like YOU!

We're searching for vibrant, innovative, and highly motivated individuals who are ready to join a multidisciplinary team and contribute to pioneering research. Strong mentorship and support to write manuscripts and grants will be provided. If you love sleep for its untapped scientific potential (and not just because you love to sleep), you might be the missing piece in our research puzzle!

MoonLAIT (led by Yue Leng, PhD) is not just another research lab; it is where data, sleep science, and innovation come together to redefine our understanding of neurodegenerative diseases like Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s. We explore the untapped frontiers of sleep research, employing big data and machine learning, and aim to be the trailblazers in early detection and intervention strategies for neurodegenerative diseases.

You will have the opportunity to contribute to these ongoing exciting research projects:

  1. Epidemiological study of life-course sleep behaviors, 24-hour circadian rhythms, and neurodegenerative diseases in multiple large-scale longitudinal cohort studies.
  2. AI in Sleep Medicine: Use machine learning to process multidimensional PSG signals and identify groundbreaking digital biomarkers for disease prediction.
  3. Wearable Tech in Sleep: Contribute to real-world studies focused on the application of wearable and nearable sleep technology in home settings.
  4. Unraveling the causal relationships between sleep, circadian rhythms, and neurodegenerative diseases and study of gene-environment interactions, using biobank data and novel statistical methods.
Job Requirements:
  • Ph.D., M.D., (or equivalent) with training in sleep medicine, neurology, epidemiology, bioinformatics, statistics, data science, computer science, or a closely related discipline.
  • Demonstrable intrinsic curiosity, self-driven attitude, and the ability to be a fast learner.
  • Exceptional communication skills—both oral and written.
  • Strong track record of first-author publications.
  • Proficiency in statistical or coding software (e.g., R, Python).
  • Ability to work independently, lead projects effectively, and collaborate within a team-oriented environment.
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks efficiently.
  • Prior research experience in sleep and neurodegenerative diseases is preferred but not essential.
