We are looking for outstanding post-doctoral fellows with an interest in working with clinical cohort and electronic health record data in the area of autoimmune diseases. The position is with the UCSF Rheumatology Quality and Informatics Lab (www.quil.ucsf.edu), an interdisciplinary group of epidemiologists, biostatisticians, data scientists, and qualitative researchers who aim to study risk factors and outcomes in people with autoimmune diseases such as rheumatoid arthritis and lupus. The primary data sources for the work include the 1)The RISE registry, which is currently the largest rheumatology registry in the world and is linked to Medicare claims data. The major focus of the registry is to improve care andoutcomes for people with autoimmune diseases in the United States; 2) California Lupus Epidemiology Study (CLUES), a longitudinal, multi-ethnic, population-based cohort of individuals with lupus in the San Francisco Bay Area, which has been funded by the Centers for Disease Control for over a decade. The major focus of this study is to investigate the health outcomes of people with lupus, and to identify health disparities; and 3) Advancing Safety Process Innovation in Rheumatology (ASPIRE), a study that uses both local and national EHR data to advance pharmacovigilance studies for immunosuppressive drugs and to develop and implement programs to improve patient safety. ASPIRE is funded by the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality. Post-doctoral fellows will be closely mentored by an experienced PI with a strong track record of successful mentorship (Dr. Jinoos Yazdany). Fellows will be expected to attend research lab meetings and develop first-author publications in their areas of interest. Positions are for one year but may be extended for up to three. The salary for this position is approximately $80,000 per year, not including benefits.
