This post-doctoral fellowship position will be directly supervised by Principal Investigator Dr. Khaled Moussawi in Neurology. The research project involves using Transcranial Low-Intensity Focused Ultrasound (LIFU) for neuromodulation of the reward and motivation circuits in patients with substance use disorders. In addition to LIFU, the research approach involves EEG, fMRI, and cognitive and behavioral testing. This project is conducted in collaboration with UCSF investigators from Neuroradiology, Psychiatry, and Neurosurgery.
A competitive applicant will have extensive experience with 1) fMRI methods and analyses, 2) neuromodulation techniques like TMS or LIFU, 3) neuronavigation for precise targeting, 4) quantitative skills (MATLAB and/or Python), and 5) clinical research background.
