SUMMARY OF POSITION:
The Physical Therapist is responsible for evaluating/assessing needs of patients and formulating treatment plans. Provides therapy services defined in treatment plans. Work cooperatively with physicians. May supervise physical therapy assistant/aids.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Assess and evaluate therapeutic/rehabilitative/functional status, and participation in the development of the total plan of care.
- Instruct patients and families/caregivers in the use and care of therapeutic appliances.
- Determine priority needs for physical therapy.
- Report to physician patient’s reaction to treatment or changes in condition.
- Initiates physical therapy program and coordinate with family members on home programs and case conference.
- Identifies patient and family/caregiver needs for other home health services and refers as necessary.
- Prepares and submits a clinical progress summary based on the attainment of goals as directed by Organization policy.
- Performs other relevant job duties as required by manager/supervisor.
- Complies with federal and state regulations.
- Complies with APTA code of ethics.
- Complies with continuation education requirements.
Job Requirements:
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor, Master or Doctoral degree approved by the California Board of Physical Therapy.
- Licensed to practice as physical therapist in California.
- Must meet the educational requirements set by the California Board of Physical Therapy.
- 1 year of experience in outpatient setting.
- Current documentation of Basic Life Support is required.
PHYSICAL:
- Frequent ten key typing, repetitive motion of hands, handling, lifting, grasping and holding.
- Constant sitting, finger dexterity, seeing, hearing.
- Frequent lifting of objects under 20lbs.
- Frequent: reaching above and below shoulders and outward, stopping/bending climbing stairs, squatting and twisting body.
- Frequent: gripping on an object, walking and speaking.
LANGUAGE:
- Must be able to fluently speak, read and write English.
- Fluent Chinese speaker (Cantonese and/or Mandarin) preferred.
- Fluent in other languages are an asset.
