SUMMARY OF POSITION:

 The Physical Therapist is responsible for evaluating/assessing needs of patients and formulating treatment plans. Provides therapy services defined in treatment plans. Work cooperatively with physicians. May supervise physical therapy assistant/aids.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Assess and evaluate therapeutic/rehabilitative/functional status, and participation in the development of the total plan of care.
  • Instruct patients and families/caregivers in the use and care of therapeutic appliances.
  • Determine priority needs for physical therapy.
  • Report to physician patient’s reaction to treatment or changes in condition.
  • Initiates physical therapy program and coordinate with family members on home programs and case conference.
  • Identifies patient and family/caregiver needs for other home health services and refers as necessary.
  • Prepares and submits a clinical progress summary based on the attainment of goals as directed by Organization policy.
  • Performs other relevant job duties as required by manager/supervisor.
  • Complies with federal and state regulations.
  • Complies with APTA code of ethics.
  • Complies with continuation education requirements.
Job Requirements: 

 QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor, Master or Doctoral degree approved by the California Board of Physical Therapy.
  • Licensed to practice as physical therapist in California.
  • Must meet the educational requirements set by the California Board of Physical Therapy.
  • 1 year of experience in outpatient setting.
  • Current documentation of Basic Life Support is required.

 

PHYSICAL:

  • Frequent ten key typing, repetitive motion of hands, handling, lifting, grasping and holding.
  • Constant sitting, finger dexterity, seeing, hearing.
  • Frequent lifting of objects under 20lbs.
  • Frequent: reaching above and below shoulders and outward, stopping/bending climbing stairs, squatting and twisting body.
  • Frequent: gripping on an object, walking and speaking.

 

LANGUAGE:

  • Must be able to fluently speak, read and write English.
  • Fluent Chinese speaker (Cantonese and/or Mandarin) preferred.
  • Fluent in other languages are an asset.
