Work as part of a software team that develops and supports systems involved in manufacturing world-class molecular diagnostic products. You will be evaluating different approaches for classifying images associated with the manufacturing process. Approaches that may be considered include convolutional neural networks and support vector machines.

The project will entail model evaluation and refinement. The work will include finding ways to improve the training data. The project may involve software and processes surrounding model development such as data acquisition, image preprocessing, integration with other software, validation, and deployment.

  • Developing and evaluating classification models and supporting software
  • Troubleshooting model and data issues; proposing solutions
  • Working effectively as part of a software team and being willing to contribute to all aspects of the project
  • Summary presentation at the end of your project

As an Intern, you will apply your function coursework to a variety of focused hands-on projects. At the same time, you will gain and apply knowledge about Agilent's industry, infrastructure, and products in your assignment. This is developing real-world experience in a company that is a leader in the markets it serves.

Job Requirements: 

Our ideal candidate:

  • Has completed a bachelor's degree program with a focus in computer science, electrical, chemical, or computer engineering or related mathematics/ statistics or science degree.
  • Is currently enrolled in the 1st year of a master's degree program with a focus in software engineering, computer science, electrical engineering, or similar. Emphasis on artificial intelligence or data science is required.
  • Possesses familiarity with machine learning fundamentals
  • Possesses familiarity with convolutional neural networks, Keras, and TensorFlow
  • Is experienced with Python programming.
  • Is experienced with complex software projects
  • Some Java experience is preferred.
  • Experience in image processing desired
