Kitazawa laboratory is looking for a research staff with expertise in electrophysiological recordings (LTP, field potential) on animals. This unique skillset is required to collect the hippocampus LTP on animals exposed chronically to concentrated air pollution and to elucidate its environmental link with Alzheimer’s disease (AD). Functional outcomes, such as LTP, would provide insights into understanding the environmental contribution to the brain function, cognition and the neurotoxic mechanism leading to AD. The individual will work on the NIH-funded project investigating the neurotoxic mechanisms of air pollution and its relevance to AD and takes a lead on electrophysiological recordings and data analysis.

Duties will include: 1) work closely with Dr. Kitazawa and other team members to isolate brain tissues from mice; 2) tissue processing and perform electrophysiological recordings; 3) data analysis and presentation; 4) setup and optimize multi-electrode array (MEA) recording, and 5) support the writing of progress and final report.

Job Requirements:

Requirements include: • (BS, MS or) PhD in neuroscience, toxicology, pharmacology, biology, or relevant field. • Expertise in ex vivo electrophysiological recordings and data analysis. • Familiar with MEA system • Excellent data analysis skills and familiarity in statistical analysis software. • Proficient communication skills (oral and written) in English. • Ability to work independently with occasional supervision.
