Job Summary

Responsible for providing direction, review, and oversight of clinical initiatives; proactively gather, research, and review clinical research to build and maintain clinical programs and clinical inputs to products; assist with the translation of evidence-based guidelines into claims-based algorithms; be a thought partner in health economics and outcomes analysis, designing research studies and developing manuscripts for publication, as needed.

Essential Duties:

  • Lead internal clinical development activities working closely with the product management and analytics team to review and develop clinical metrics based on relevant claims and outcomes based research.
  • Ensure critical product-related clinical decisions incorporate evidence-based medicine principles.
  • Act as a point of contact to provide clinical direction for the assigned business unit, partnering with peers across the organization to provide sound medical knowledge, research and directives.
  • Document, revise, and continuously review outcomes based metrics to ensure relevant and current data is utilized to create clinical recommendations to product team.
  • Present, as assigned, research, findings, and medical documentation for established metrics to clients, sales team, product team, etc. as necessary.
  • Continuously review clinical guidelines, available research, and claims information to provide solid medical based recommendations to clients, members, and product teams.
  • As necessary, oversee the creation of specialized client reports ensuring data is sound and medical evidence for recommendations or guidelines is fully established.
  • Perform ad hoc research projects to advance the business unit’s work in the medical field by utilizing both cross-sectional and longitudinal data available through multiple sources.
  • Assists leadership in providing strategic direction for the assigned business unit in regards to medical data analytics.
Job Requirements: 

Qualifications

Education:

  • Clinical degree (MD, DO, PA, NP, BSN, RN) is required.
  • Additional Masters of Public Health or Masters of Science degree preferred.

Experience:

  • Minimum of four years of experience in clinical development, medical billing, research methods, or epidemiology is required, preferably in a health care or pharmaceutical industry.
  • Direct patient care experience a plus.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Demonstrated problem solving, analytical reasoning, and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and manage complex projects and timelines in a matrix team environment.
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communications skills.
  • Demonstrated leadership abilities, accountability, initiative, and independent judgment.
  • Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Word is required.
  • Familiarity with ICD, CPT, and other medical code systems is highly preferred.
  • Experience with the peer reviewed journal submission process is preferred.
  • Experience with SAS or SQL is preferred. R and Python are also desirable.
