RESPONSIBILITIES  

  • Serve as day-to-day, client-facing communications lead on a diverse roster of health accounts
  • Craft and deliver persuasive strategic plans, messaging and collateral materials tailored for different audiences. The ability to simplify complex technical, legislative, regulatory, legal or other issues will be key
  • Project management, including workplans, setting and meeting deadlines, managing colleague contributors, and monitoring of account budgets and needs
  • Generate media outreach strategies and pitch stories on a regular basis. Journalism experience or track record with high-quality earned media placements is essential
  • Display keen understanding of key aspects of the health sector and policy environment, an excellent grasp on healthcare reporting trends, and desire to expand into new areas
  • Demonstrate excellent client-relations skills – responsive, professional, helpful
  • React quickly to emerging issues, urgent client requests and challenging media environment
  • Contribute to firm’s new business process and efforts
  • Collaborate to deliver integrated services with other GPG divisions (from government relations and advertising to content development and public opinion research)
Job Requirements: 

ATTRIBUTES  

  • A BA/BS degree in a related field and 6-9 years of relevant communications experience, preferably within the health sector
  • Experience with developing and managing integrated communications campaigns, drawing from multiple disciplines including media relations, government relations, advertising, and public opinion research, in-house or at a public relations agency
  • Experience working with coalitions and advocacy groups is a plus
  • Experience working with reporters and established media contacts 
  • A self-starter with a passion for expanding their knowledge and skills
  • Strong strategic thinker with understanding of how larger business and public policy landscape impacts clients’ communications abilities and needs
  • Experience and ambition for sourcing and/or successfully leading efforts to obtain new business
  • A demonstrated capacity for leadership, communication, adaptability, resourcesfulness, teamwork and collegiality within a tight-knit team
