We are seeking a dynamic, innovative and organized Dental Director (DD) to provide leadership in the ongoing development of a dental program based upon community need, health behaviors of the population served and the resources of the organization. This position ensures that the dental program addresses Salud Para La Gente's philosophy of care, range of services, service priorities, and clinical goals and objectives. The position is responsible for the clinical activities in the dental clinics and is liaison between dental providers, medical providers, and administration. The DD provides leadership for Salud's dental program and participate as a member of the executive management team. The DD will lead and work in collaboration with a team comprised of Assistant Dental Directors, the Dental Program Manager (DPM), the Dental Operations Program Supervisor (DOPS) and the Lead Dental Assistants in addition to billing and other internal departments. The DD will represent Salud in a variety of community settings and at national and regional meetings. The DD will have direct oversight for quality assurance, utilization management, risk management and support for staff dentists. The DD will serve in a clinical role two days per week on average, in a five-day work week. The DD will provide dental services during Saturday clinics at least one time every other month.
REQUIRED MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- General DDS from an accredited dental school.
- Current valid license to practice dentistry issued by the CA State Board of Dental Examiners.
- Current DEA Registration.
- Up to date on current dental practices and materials.
- Attend Continuing Education courses pertinent to abovementioned duties and licensing requirements.
- Computer proficiency, including EHR.
- Bilingual Spanish/English.
- Ability to maintain strict confidentiality.
- Possess or obtain certification in Basic-Cardio Life Support within six months of employment.
- Valid CA Driver’s License & current vehicle insurance; must be able to travel between sites.
DESIRED MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Bicultural candidates preferred.
- Masters’ in Public Health, other related Master's Degree or S+ years of experience in dental public health program development or management preferred.
- Previous experience with bargaining groups.
