The NICU /CNS are a Registered Nurse who works collaboratively with the Director of Maternal and Child Health. He/She assumes 24 hour administrative, clinical and educational responsibility for the management of NICU Staff. Supervises, assesses, plans, implements and evaluates the delivery of patient care in the NICU department. Develops and implements policies and procedures, clinical orientation, mentoring, consultation including performance improvement activities, submit , evaluate and disseminate required data as well as compliance with state and national standards for NICU care. Communicates with staff, physicians and administration both written and verbally. The NICU Manager assumes house supervisory responsibilities as assigned, including responding to codes throughout the hospital, assessing and charting, and following through with appropriate documentation.
- Current and valid CA registered nurse license.
- Master‘s in Nursing degree Required.
- BCLS, Neonatal Resuscitation Provider (NRP) certification upon hire and maintain.
- Certified by the State Board of Registered Nursing as a CNS required within 1 year of employment
- Three (3) years clinical experience in NICU at least one year is with a NICU that is equivalent to a Regional or Community NICU preferred.
- Certification in NICU from a nationally recognized accrediting organization required
- supervisory experience in an acute care setting preferred
